Why Are You Weeping?

April 2, 2015 by Ellen 37 Comments

“…Woman, why are you weeping?…” John 20:13

Why?? I’m weeping because I’m angry. They took Him and beat Him with a whip, until His skin was shredded. They mocked Him with a crown of thorns, making fun of Him, calling Him King of the Jews. I’m angry that they treated Him with such contempt! How dare they? They made Him carry His own cross to Golgotha! I’m angry because they took my Savior and they nailed Him to the cross. They pierced His side with a spear…like a common criminal! I’m angry because they killed him…

“…Woman, why are you weeping? Whom are you seeking?…” John 20:15

I’m weeping because I’m sad. They took the Man that saved me. He delivered me from demons and gave me my life back. They killed Him and put Him in this tomb. And now they’ve taken Him away. I haven’t even had a chance to anoint His body with the perfumes and spices. Why? Oh, why did they take Him? They carried Him away, and I don’t know where they’ve put Him! I’m sad because He’s gone…

“Jesus said to her, ‘Mary!’”…” John 20:16

I’m weeping joyful tears because He’s alive! I’m weeping happy tears because He’s risen! I have seen the Lord! He lives! I’m weeping because through His death, He has redeemed me! No more excuses, no more keeping quiet! I have seen the Lord in all my circumstances: Bad, good, boring and exciting. I will share when I have seen Him. He’s alive, and I’m weeping because my sorrow has turned to joy…

“…You will be sorrowful, but your sorrow will turn into joy…” John 16:20

He is risen

Hi Ellen! The Passion and Resurrection is such a journey in faith and emotion isn’t it? And you really illustrated that here with your own path through the holy days.

He is Risen, and he conquers all. Even the horrid torture and the denials and the abandonment. May we be richly blessed in his grace to always be with him!
    Blessings,
    Ceil

Welcome!

Torrential rains had been pelting us for weeks. With the rains came weeds growing tall in the flower beds. But I noticed other new growth, too. It wasn’t colorful flowers. It was teeny, tiny little oak trees! Squirrels had been working hard, burying food for later. The rains had soaked and softened … Read More...
